Quick Facts

 

The 2023 Wintergreen Member-Member golf tournament is a 36-hole aggregate event to be played June 16th-17th, 2023.

 

Conditions of the Competition

 

Eligibility

Two person teams consisting of Wintergreen members with a current USGA handicap index.  Wintergreen members comprise both Primary members AND Extended Family members.  Handicaps as of June 14th will be used throughout the tournament.

 

Teams will be placed in flights based on total team handicap indexes.

 

The tournament committee can adjust a handicap index before or during the event if the player is consistently playing below their established index.  The player must be informed by the committee prior to an adjustment and given the chance to explain the difference.

Use of multiple tees – the player competing from the tees with a higher par must receive additional strokes equal to the rating of lower par.

 

 

Format

1st Round at Devils Knob - Men will play a team scramble. Women will play better ball of partners. 

2nd Round at Stoney Creek - Men will play better ball of partners. Women will play a team scramble.

Better Ball portion of the competition will be played at 85% of the players handicaps.

Scramble portion of the competition will be played at 35% of Player A and 15% of Player B

*Handicap allowances based on USGA recommendations.

 

Schedule of Events

Friday, June 16th, 2023: Round One Shotgun at 1pm at Devils Knob Golf Course

Friday, June 16th, 2023: Evening Putting Competition and Cookout at 5:30pm at Devils Knob Golf Course

Saturday, June 17th, 2023: Round Two Shotgun at 9am at Stoney Creek Golf Course

Saturday, June 17th, 2023: Awards Luncheon at 1:30pm at Stoney Creek Bar & Grill

 

Flights and Tees of Play

Men’s Championship (White Tees) – Both members of the team must play from the white tees regardless of age

Men’s Senior (Gold Tees) - 60 & Older *This flight could be split into two flights depending on participation*

Mixed Flight (1 Man, 1 Woman)- Tees will be based off age 

Women’s Championship (Red Tees) Both members of the team must play from the red tees regardless of age

Women’s Senior (Green Tees at Stoney Creek, Red Tees at Devils Knob) - 60 & Older

 

Tie Breaker

In the event of a tie, a scorecard playoff will be used to determine the winner. An acceptable method of matching cards is to determine the winner on the basis of the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, determine the winner on the basis of the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole.

 

Prizes

Prizes awarded for first and second gross and first and second net.  

 

Tournament Fees

$90 per player plus appropriate golf fees based on current membership.
